Cultivating Ealing

In early 2019, the Ealing in Bloom organisation that ran horticultural competitions in the Borough for the previous thirty years, took the decision that it could no longer continue and asked EAP to consider whether some, at least, of the events could be preserved for 2019. A new group, with the name Cultivating Ealing, was formed with the wider purpose of using horticulture to make Ealing a more attractive place for residents and visitors. In 2019 it ran both the Allotments and Schools competitions with the aim of attracting enthusiastic new support in order to extend the range of future competitions.

In 2020 the competitions were suspended because of the Covid restrictions. For 2021 the Allotments competition will re-start. After consultation with a number of Schools, it has been decided not to re-start the Schools competition this year owing to the other competing demands on the time of school staff. It is hoped that the School’s competition will restart in 2022.
